Grizzly 600 starting problems
I just got a 1998 grizzly 600 that just won't start. When I go to pull start it (the electric start gear was messed up) after one or two pulls it backfires. The guy told us that he had the carburetor rebuilt and put all new cdi boxes and wires on it. Oh and I don't know if this matters but the motor had been replaced because the guy before him had blown the motor. The guy told us that it wouldn't crank one day and he took it to somebody and they replaced the pick-up and that it would start sometimes but run real bad or it would do what it doing for me. I'm thinking about replacing the stator and pick-up at the same tine. Oh and if someone still has their manual could you tell me the ohms for the stator and the pick-up?

Grizzly 600 starting problems
Ok heres an update. I got ahold of a repair manual and I took out and reinstalled the cam according to the instructions to eliminate the possibility of it being the cam out of time with the same result... four pulls of the pull start and backfire on the fifth pull...also took the fuel bowl off the carb and cleaned out the fuel passage ways and now a new problem when i turned on the gas the carb spills out gas from the overflow lines like the float is stuck. i checked the float to see if it had gas in it but it was air tight and it moved freely. Help!!!

you could be into a number of problems, make sure the carb is cleaned properly, if I were you I would take it all apart and let it sit in carb cleaner for a while then blow out the air passages and re-install everything, the bowl leaking...did you loosen the screw at the bottom for the drain?, make sure that screw is tight and the o-ring for the bowl is not damaged.
Is the timing set properly? new spark plug(correct one?), I would test the coil, and see if it's any good. If not go for the Stator next, then the CDI(most expensive to replace). Let us know whats going on.

its not the bowl itself its the two little passageways on the bottom. i turn the screw on way and the gas comes out one hose. i turn it the other way and it comes out the other hose. as for the timing the cam should be right. ive tried a new spark plug with the same result. what are the ohms or what else should i check for the coil, stator, pickup, and the cdi?

the screw on the bottom has to be tight, so this means if fuel comes out the other then the float is set way too high or the float valve is leaking not closing off when the float gets to it's max level.
In your manual there will be readings you should get on a multimeter when you test the parts, read it as I'm not sure the correct readings it needs to be.
