For what you guys are going to do, go with the Wolverine. I've owned a Blaster for little over a year and it was a great little atv but not suited for hunting or any type of slow riding. Two strokes are for full throttle, always winding out type riding. The Wolverine does both types of riding very well. Your son won't be disappointed. Just think if he had to pull you out of a situation far out in the bush, the blaster won't come in to handy.. Also less maintenance with the shaft drive system versus the chain.. Just some things to consider.

Good luck and have fun!

The only reason you can wheelie your blaster in any gear is cause its got the wheelbase of a powerwheels.

You say you do alot of riding in your hunting area. I have a timberwolf 4x4 and my dad has a 2wd big bear. his 2wd has quite a time on muddy hills and come up to a decent size log and you can just forget it. With a 4x4 hills are no prob with the extre traction up front and weight up front. and for logs just ride over and if you bottom out jus lean over the front and a quik tap of the trottle has you on your way. My piont is go with the wolverine, he won't outgrow it and you can let him ride on his own more and not worry about getting stranded.

I would go with the wolverine. My son has a blaster and loves it, but when he gets stuck in the snow or mud he hates it. It really depends on what your son is going to do with it. Mine likes to jump and slide sideways around corners. We do alot of trail riding and he does just fine on the blaster as long as he stays out of the deep mud. If there is any mud he is also wearing it. The blaster has little splash protection. This makes mom unhappy. The wolverine would offer better splash protection and would have 4x4 for those sticky situations. You would also have racks to carry your game out with. It sounds like the wolverine is more suited for your sons needs than the blaster. If I had to do it again I would have bought the wolverine, but now I can't talk my son out of the blaster. Oh well, better on my pocketbook. he he. Anyway, hope this helped on your decision.
