xtreme165,

I have the same problem with my machine. It makes noice for about a minute or so upon cold startup and then goes away. I have about 20 hours on my machine. Let me know what you find.

Thanks,

IronBear

My starter was doing the same. it would some times do ok and other times it sounded terible. but i took it back to the dealer and they replaced the gears. they said it had some missing teeth or something to that nature.

I went on a club ride over the weekend and there were two brand new Raptors there. It was cold and below zero. Neither one would start without either and jumper cables.

My battery cables weren't tight when I got mine either. I really wish dealer's would actually know what they are doing.

Mine starts fine, always has, no battery or starter problems... Just had to throw that in to break up the line of people all having the problem. Dont want anyone to think every Raptor has issues.

My Raptor and also my friend's both make a buzzing noise coming from the starter area when started cold. It sounds like gear teeth slightly touching each other and making a buzzing sound. It goes away when warm. I took it the the dealer and the mech said it was because of the dry sump design not supplying oil right away to that section of the engine.
P.s. I also had a 1985 Honda XR350 (kick start only)that did the same thing.

xtrem165,
Sorry I missed you Sat. I didn't get there until 10:20 or so. My mother decided to wash my snowmobile suit and didn't dry it!
