I have been out of the ATV race for 10+ years and alot has changed. I am looking to get a used 1989 Warrior the guy wants $800 for it, is it worth that much?

He says it runs fine but the electric start does not work, he has replaced the battery and a few other things i believe.

I will be going to look at it soon to see how well it runs. The guy says it starts up fine using the pull start fenders are all intact and its all stock.

BTW is there any online database showing what years a quad was made?

 

Running or not if its all there its worth 800. Buy it and fix it up.

 

KBB.com has the trade in value at 985.00 but still its a 20 year old machine. Pull starting that warrior will get old quick.

 

I plan on fixing the starter if i can.

 

If it runs fine then it's worth it. Even with a few problems it is worth fixing up.

 

For that price you can afford to put some money into it, and the question is not so much what it's book value is but how much of a price you place on having fun. For that $800 you can have a blast and still recoup most if not all of the money that you spend on it after you are done with it. I think that is a hell of a buy myself. The tires look good, and even if the starter is bad I read on here that you can get one for $60. That is dirt cheap for having a decent quad. If it doesn't need a complete overhaul it is a steal if you ask me. I'd buy it in a minute if I were in the market for another.

 

just so you know that the warriors from 87-89 have wierd issues with wiring. they have a lot that can go wrong. if you dont mind maybe having to spend a little money on it down the road its a good buy. but personally i would get a newer one

 

I am concerned about its age but it looks to be in good shape and doesnt it have the original tires on it? If so it has not been used alot.

The guy says he has replaced the starter and battery and did not want to put anymore money in to it so what does that leave the solenoid?

The guy is kinda strange now i can't look at it untill the weekend. Its not kept at his house. Im still looking for a newer one but theres not alot of used warriors out there that are stock so i don't have much to pick from.

 

I bought the warrior for $700 has alot wrong with it though, needs a new muffler and the back shock seems to be worn out it really sinks when you sit down. How far should it go if your 200lbs?

 

I too am 200 pounds and I didn't ever adjust the suspension on the Warrior that I had, but it was new so that prolly doesn't apply. As I recall I think mine squatted about 2 inches when I plopped down on it. It may just be a matter of preloading the shock? I am sure that there are plenty of guys on this site that will get you the info you need. You made a great buy IMO. Have fun!
