Default Should i get Banshee or YFZ 450?

I like speed and arm riping power, i have had a banshee in the past and loved it haven't drove a 450 yet. I think they have the same top speed stock.

I mostly go in a stright line i do like to jump and power slide around turns. The Banshee i can work on myself the 4 stroke i wouldnt not be able to since i know nothing about them.

What i always hated about the banshee was 2 of everything to mess with. With eather bike i would replace the carbs and exaust and strap a filter directly to the carb it self. I think the YFZ would handle better for sure.

So which bike would get to its top speed first?

Get the YFZ.......no contest.........

The top speed on the YFZ is not that impressive, probably around 70 or so usually..... The Banshee might have a higher top speed but the YFZ will get there faster and handle WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY (Did I say WAY?) better.........

The Banshee is a dinosaur...... they were great in their time and they will live on forever because of the aftermarket parts. But they will never be a YFZ....... if you are going to jump and appreciate handling get the YFZ....... If you want to just go fast in a straight line or ride wide open in the dunes, the Banshee will be a cheaper option.

no, I say get an 06 Banshee It is the best sport quad i have ever ridden! rips turns, goes off sweet jumps with ease! everything you could want! I tihnk that the only downside is what said nad I qoute! "What i always hated about the banshee was 2 of everything to mess with. With eather bike i would replace the carbs and exaust and strap a filter directly to the carb it self."
ANd the upside is that you already know how to work on them!

ok heres the deal. the banshees that are opened up are definetly way faster than the 450s. for the cheapest amount of money the banshee will definetly be the fastest quad in a straight line. however i could definetly say that a 450 is way faster in trails and the track due to the suspension mods and a much more manageable power band and is easier to be faster on. but i will admit a modded banshee vs a modded yfz 450 will killi it in a straight line.

i would get a yfz450. the only thing i would want a shee for is all out drag racing. the suspension sucks stock. the frame was not even that good for the 80s and for a 2 stroke wieghs alot. and if you can work on a 2 stroke you will have no problem learning to work on a 4 stroke is simple just a little different

Nice thing about a banshee is, theyve made em forever. Parts are very easy to get, and they're soo much easier to work on. The carbs are right there, you don't have to remove the plastics or anything like that. Plus, its a kick start. Don't have to deal with a shitty battery or a starter.

The 'Shee is great for dunes and straight line assaults. Everything else balance tips to the YFZ. Handling and suspension are light years ahead. YFZ is a current and popular model, so aftermarket support is very strong. As for maintenance, if you can rebuild a 2 stroke now, then a 4 stroke should be easy to learn. All that really is added is the valve train which adds expense but isn't exactly rocket science. Also if you are getting an original('04-'09) YFZ, the carb is already top of the line, I wouldn't replace it.

Well the YFZ is a good bike too, but they also have their maintenance costs too. Your gonna pay more for a YFZ, but what if you took the money you would've spent on a YFZ and put it in a banshee? Like upgrading your A arms and shocks. I put a yfz shock for the rear suspension and its a lot nicer. I'm putting in front ones too. Needless to say, YFZ has suspension mastered.

Even though banshees are considered "dune bikes" I'd say YFZ's are too; look at how long their A arms are! Good luck making it through any type of tight trail. Also, much like the banshee, YFZ's aren't known for having the most torque.

I've owned a banshee in the past and would still have it had it not burned up in my toy hauler. I currently have a yfz and to be honest I'm not that impressed with the overall smile making power of this thing as compared to the Banshee.
These are two different bikes altogether. I modified my Banshee to handle trails very well but not much of it was stock. The yfz is stock and still does better than the banshee on trials. As for speed, the Banshee will never die. There isn't a quad made today or for that matter was ever made that will be capable of producing the rush of riding a banshee. Get on the track and the Banshee falls on its face. It sucks big butt. Take it out to the straight aways and laugh while you wait for the others to get to the finish line.

Im old school and love the Banshee. Will begin building another as soon as I get a shop built at my new place.

I have to admit though the newer yfz's are nice and alot eaiser to ride in 99% of conditions.

Either way, good luck to ya and hope you have fun with whatever you choose.

yfz 450 is a better 4 wheeler in my opinion and more reliable if u ask me, however the banshee will go faster at a longer distance. both are great 4 wheelers
