Default buying a banshee

Hey

I'm looking at buying a used banshee, 99 or newer. what are things I should look out for?,
what are the pros and cons to having a 2 stroke? does it have to be rebuilt often?
and should i stay away from buying a modded one?
thanks

Buying anything used is kind of a pig in a poke but you should be able to listen to it run and ride it and see if it is making any strange noises or if it is running good. I personally would shy away from a modded one. If I wanted a modded one I would have to be the one modding it. If it isn't done right it would be better with none.

yea if its been bored wayyy over or has a 370 or 400 kit in it or something then it can be iffy, the motor work could have ben done by a retard, watch the pipes when they smoke and give it throttle make sure they smoke pretty evenly then once its shut off feel the cylinders and pipes for even temperatures, also check motor mounts for cracks and check a-arms and axle for bent spots or anything, check out the air filter to see if its ben tampered with or looks very dirty like someone didnt care for it, also make sure you get into it pretty good, shift up and down through all gears and that should help a little on deciding if its worth buying.

If money is tight in your situation, you might consider doing a compression test on it before you buy it, otherwise you might end up doing a top end rebuild in the very near future.

Find one with pipes. Pipes do the most for them and cost the most, so it might be a good idea to find one with them already on it. Stay away from drag ported, or bigger aftermarket cylinder banshee's because that means they were more than likely drag raced and abused.
