get the recon its better than the beartracker, They evan had a shoot out in dirtwhells between beartracker, RECON, trailblazer, Bayou220, and suzuki250 and the Recon Won

I hope you mean TrailBoss not TrailBlazer,The power, comfort and suspension of the TrailBazer could not lose to a Recon. The new shootout between the 250EX and TrailBlazer was close and the 250 ex is a 10% more powerful Recon with better suspension.
But with DirtWheels anything could happen.

I bought the beartracker last year and it was a great little machine. My wife has inherited it because i bought the 4x4 kodiak. You won't go wrong with the beartracker but you won't go wrong with a recon either. My suggestion is to have your wife ride both of them and see which one she prefers. Also, the recon my cost a little more. Good luck with your decision.

2000 Kodiak
yamaha speedo kit
snow plow
2000 Beartracker(wife's quad)

I own a '01 beartracker and really like it. My cousins friend has the recon and it does pretty much the same as mine. The only main differences between the recon is a little bit smaller and the beartracker has a little bit bigger gas tank. I got my beartracker $300 cheaper but that is probably just the difference between the dealers.

I am a Yamaha man. I ride a 'shee, the wife rides a Beartracker. But the truth is the truth, and though it causes me pain to say so, I'll have to admit that I wish I'd bought a Recon. My cousin has one, and she is able to out-perform my wife in every situation imaginable. I used to claim that my wife was just less experienced to justify this, but since they have switched up several times and they both agree: the Recon has more power on tap at all r.p.m. ranges, and is just more fun to drive. I've never seen a 2wd 250 move through mud like the Recon. If possible, drive both before making your final decision. I think you'll agree.

My brother just bought a New beartracker yesterday. He wanted something without a clutch and not too big. I took it for a little ride. Not a bad little machine. Racks and everything for under 3g's. He also didn't want to pay extra for 4 wd.
