2002 raptor 660r running problem
hello i am having problems with my 660.it at times seams like it ir running out of gas will start hard wont idle then it will idle and wont accellerate it will pop and some times back fire.i checked the petcock for fuel flow in on and reserve mode works fine in both.removed the carbs today to check and see if the float bowl were full of junk or not they look clean even connected the fuel tank to carbs on bench to see if the needle and seats were flowing all looks good.it has done this from time to time but is as bad as it has been.only thing changed i put new handel bars on it before i took it out dont know if this would have any affect on this.any help would be great trying to get it working for this weekend thanks john.

running problem
had it at silver lake this weekend and the trails ran good for a bit then S.O.S will run if you can get it up into the rpms where its screaming 1st and 2nd gear.but to get there is tough poping and crackling.just read a post on a parking brake switch that may cause running issues,is this true if so any on have a fix.thanks john.

It sounds like the same problem as The Captain is having, 'cept yours is intermittent. I'd be willing ot bet there's a bad "multi connecting junction inside one of the harness covers near your handlebars. Not sure where, as I have a pretty haggard piece of a wiring diagram.
But,..... There is a particular black wire coming from the CDI that either needs a ground or is grounding when it shouldn't as best I can tell....... My diagram (if you're following the other thread) is a crappy one with no "year model" listed. All the black wires on the Yamaha's I'm familiar with,.... go to ground,... one way or the other, or get a ground through a switch for some sensor.
