Actually they would not....... the 250cc 2-stroke would have to compete with the 450cc 4-strokes. While the 250cc 4-stroke would compete with the 125cc 2-strokes....... that is how the AMA designated it when the two used to mix.....

Nowadays there are no 2-strokes racing in AMA pro motocross at all so the point there is moot..... However there are still a few 2-strokes left in GNCC racing, and even there the 250cc 2-stroke races in the 450cc class.....

The guy is talking about a 4 stroke CRF250 vs a 2 stroke YZ125. They run the same class. It was previously known as the 125 class but now it is known as the lites.

All things being 100% equal, including rider weight, skills, gearing etc...etc...... The 250cc 2-stroke would be much quicker than the 250cc 4-stroke. It would hit top speed faster....

However, the 250cc 4-stroke could equal the same top speed once both are pinned. It could not close the gap that the 2-stroke creates while getting to top speed.....

I should have been more clear but I was speaking in direct final numbers....
The question was never about a 250 2 stroke until you brought that bike into the equation.

a 125cc 2 stroke is pretty equal to a 250cc 4 stroke.

You are completely wrong on the first statement.
The CRF230 is the trail version. The CRF 250 is the racer(more so)

Oh my mistake on this one. I thought they had a diff. name for the liquid cooled honda's and I also thought that the F stood for free air.

It's all good. There are so many different models they get confusing...try to keep track of KTM's line-up.
