660 Raptor problems please help....
#1
I purchased a raptor 660 from a guy who told me the only problem it had was that the starter was bad and the 2nd gear on the tranny was out. Well after repairing all the brake lines and such, I have ran into three main problems. The starter to me seems like it is fine, I have it checked out and they said it was good. The teeth on the gear are in excellent shape, but when you press the start button the starter and gears just spin. Problem two, is the clutch, it seems like the clutch on the raptor is way too tight, to function properly.I have not tried to push start to see if I am right, but non running it is extremly hard to pull the lever back. The last problem is 2nd gear, which the bike does not want to shift into? Any suggestions? Could the starter and second gear problem be related?
Any help is appreciated, thanks in advance

im guessing its an 01 raptor, if so they have well known tranny problems, as for the clutch pull it might just need cleaned and lubed, maybe adjust it on the lever and the perch that goes into the side cover, they one way starter clutch is prolly toast also which is common, LA designs makes awesome replacement parts that i think all raptor owners use, its pretty common for those parts to fail, check out raptoroneway.com

You may also check out www.moddedraptor.com or www.raptorforum.com. There are alot of very knowledgeable 660 guys over there. I had an 05 660 so never had the tranny issues, I believe they were replacing the 01 tranny parts with 02 model years parts if it is the 01 tranny problem.
