Default 05 Grizzly 660 Bogging down!! Help!

When I am riding my grizzly in deep mudd or water, it tends to bog down bad. Almost like its hitting the rev limiter (like reverse). I almost get stuck often because I dont have full power. I dont know if water is getting in the air box or what is going on. Anyone ever have this happen? Is there a fix for this?

Could be the hose coming from bottom of the carb causing the problem. This is an easy fix. Pop off plastic and find carb, look for hose that comes out of bottom and follow it. It should be resting near bottom of front of the engine. Attach an extension hose to it, feed it up through handle bar area, or feed it down, then attach to carb hose. You will then notice that you will no longer have any issues in mud and water.

Kodiak450, That hose is the overflow/drain for the carb. You dont want it higher than the carb. You want that to actually drain out. The bottom of that hose should have a check valve on it and only allow flow one way which is out of the carb. If your getting water in the carb from that hose it's time to change the checkvalve.
The one that should be raised up is the carb vent line on the side of the carb. Usually has a short hose(4-6") off the side connected to a 1/4'" tee with another short hose(4-6") one way and a longer hose(maybe 12") the other way.

jjk260, Are you able to drain water out of or see water in the airbox after it happens?

Does your bike have a rev limit override? Might try that next time it happens.

How deep of mud/water are we talking here?

There is two hoses on mine that I seen, the one you are describing is not the over flow one I snorkled. The other had what looked like a phillips head screw on the bottom of it, came out from side bottom of carb.

The one coming from the side of the carb is the vent line. It should not be plugged. It needs to be left open so the carb can breath. Best to do with that is run it up near the handle bars.
On the Grizzly there is also another vent fitting on the opposite side of the carb which should have a rubber plug over it. Might check this plug and make sure it's not cracked, broken or missing.

The overflow is the hose coming directly off the bottom of the carb float bowl. That one should be lower than the carb so if anything plugs up in the carb it can let any excess gas out. You don't want to fill up your crankcase with gas because a float stuck.

I'll take some pics of my carb and post them for you to see, to let you see what I did or shouldn't have done.

That one hose coming from the carb, I remember it being a fatter type hose, maybe 3" long, and at the end of the hose looks likt a philips head screw was in it. I'll take some pics or it. Maybe there is a difference in carbs between a 450 and 650.

All I have to add is: By entending the hose with additional hose, I no longer having problems in water with it sputtering and possibly stalling out.

That "hose" with the screw in it sounds like the idle air adjustment.
