I think my brother fried my piston. I had taken the air box lid off to put the 6 uni vents in because it was going to get jetted TODAY and it was already running lean. Well, when I was at work he thought he could sneak a ride. Well, my girlfriend was coming home and see seen him running the bike(No lid) and she said to me 'I've never heard your bike run that bad- It was real bad sounding' He mentioned it to me that he tried running my bike and it wasn't running good(The air box off had slipped my mind). I told him that it needs jetting. I just got a new plug and put it in . Then I recharged the battery(he was out there for about a half and hour trying to start it with no plug in it!!!) and tried to start it getting a jump from my car. NO GO. It won't even start now, It turns over , don't know about spark. There is no metal grinding sound or anything. Can you tell if you burnt a hole in your piston from the outside? Feedback Apreciated! It's going to the shop tonight cross your fingers all....
One other thing the plug pulled from it One side had carbon the other was clean(could this be from my ign. advance)

First off, KICK your brothers a$$ for riding it when your not there.
Second put a fricken lock on it so your stupid a$$ brother doesn't sneak a ride without you knowing.
Third check your compression.

First off,
He just got a quad and we share the same shed, thus he has a key to the shed too.
Second,
My brother is like 5 inches taller than me, 100 pounds more than me and THROWS around engine blocks all day. I don't think so.
That's the funny thing though, he's a CAR mechanic.

Eric, Man you havent had any luck with getting that thing jetted. Check you compresion and this should tell you. Hopefully if it is fried your shop will get it covered under warrenty but who knows some shops wont pull strings and cover it when aftermarket pipes and jetting causes problem. Is your plug white anywhere it sounds to like your getting blow by on one side of your piston. I'm telling you just leave that lid on and I agree get rid of that sparks key.

I am running with the lid on now. I had it off cause I was putting the UNI vents in. It probaly won't be covered seeing how I bought it from someone else AND it's probaly over 6 mths now.I've had it for 3-4 mths already--that's amazing. If it is fried and not under warranty I'm gonna get that Hi-comp. piston from Powroll. Oh ya. I hope it's just something stupid like flooded or something.

Being that your brother is much bigger than you, you need to out-smart him. Disable the quad every time you are done with it. Put a dead spark plug in it, disable the ignition switch, drain all the fuel out of it and relocate the gas cans to a hard to find place. Bottom line, make it hard to just go for a spin.

I have a car alarm in my car but that would not stop a real thief, so when I leave my car in a bad place I take the rotor with me. Car disabled, unless the thief saw mw take the rotor with me he would not evin think of it.

And lastly, when in half repair make it obvious that it is out of commission, leave a note on it.

This doesn't help with your current situation but in the future you can stop it from happening again.

Hope it is a cheap fix.

My favorite deterrant is to hook the fence charger to the frame. Makes people think twice about touching it - and it keeps the goat away

Usually if you lean out enough to burn a piston it will probably damage your spark plug. If your spark plug is ok this is a good sign. Then check compression.
