When a quad gets hot because the cooling fan is not working, will the bike shut off, or be hard to start when it does shut off? My quad has been like this ever since i got her five or six months ago, and I was wondering if anybody could help me figure out what is wrong with it? It gets really annoying when your out on the bikes with da by's, and your quad starts backfiring and shuts off on you and you can't start 'er up for about an hour and a half, so the sooner I can get some insight, the better!

 

Did you make sure the fan is not blocked or the rad isnt plugged

 

rad is not blocked but the fan don't seem to be working i never seen it on and i flicked it around with my fingers it seem to be stiff

 

an easy way to check the fan operation is to turn it on all the time. simply strip both ends of a wire, disconnect the thermo unit harness from the thermo unit, and use the wire to make a "u or jumper" pluging it into both prong holes of the harness. with the key in the on position, the fan should run all the time, if it does not, start from the fan with a circuit tester and find out whether it gets power or not.
