Any stock Banshee is not going to be very loud out of the box because they have two small 175 cc cylinders, the length of the pipe is long and made of thick gauge, and the stock spark arresters. Aftermarket silencers are just going to make it louder (not always the case but generally). In my opinion, a stock Banshee is one of the quieter bikes on the market.

My blaster is about as loud as a weedwacker... the banshee was a little bit deeper sounding but not much louder..

The 01 Banshee is very quiet out of the box, very quiet. I have yet to put a pipe and sil. kit on it yet, but that is in the near future. When i do i will be sure and post it for you. As for reliable I couldnt tell you that one it is still pretty new, only about 3 or 4 tanks through it. Hope this helps you out in some way.

They are not offensivly loud, At Idle they are extremely quiet but when you open them up you can hear them from quiet a distance. Anyone who tells you different is full of BS. my bike at 9000rpm drowns out just about every 4 stroke out there! A piped banshee is much louder, and as far as 2 strokes go, stock banshees are very quiet. To ride the bike it is not offensive at all (I hardly notice mine) but If you are stuck in the mud and you rev the bike you will definatly hear it! (In a secluded area I have had people hear me from over 5 miles away, on a different mountain peak! ) Havent you ever heard of the saying "Screams like a banshee? " They are not just refering to the speed of the bike you know! As far as reliability, Well, that all depends on how much maintenance you do, and how (much) you ride. Someone said they have a 96 banshee that they have yet to open up. Mine is a '99 and im working on putting my 3rd set of pistons into it. Nothing else on the bike has broke ('Cept tires, which wore out), and I ride excessivly hard on a lean mix. So that may not be normal, Almost everyone I know puts about 100-150 hours on their motors each season and puts new pistons in at the beginning of each year.

my 96 is louder then it used to be because i got the moto fast for it....its good because i don't have to shift as much as i used to going through the woods and tight trails
