Hello everybody,

I have a friend that has a Raptor 700 and he thinks if he add a pipe and air filter he doesn't need to buy a fuel programer because in the Yamaha accesories web site they list the exhaust and filter but they don't mention anything about fuel programers.

I told him he needs it becuase he will get more air so he will need more fuel, he understand me the point, but he said me that if something like that is necesary then Yamaha would offer it on their web site together with the pipe, header and air filter.

Does anybody know why Yamaha doesn't offer (and even doesn't mention they are necesary) fuel programers for the bike they are selling aftermarket performance accesories?

I believe Yamaha doesn't mention it because they don't make a programmer...all the parts they have on their website are made by GYTR, which is yamahas performance company...they probably don't want to mess with advertising one specific brand of programmers when there are a few on the market with similar products. I wouldn't think about running a full pipe and filter on a 700 without a programmer, they come lean from the factory...you are just asking to burn something up without one. My buddy ran a slip on pipe on his 700 without a programmer and it didn't run too well...after a PCIII, it was a monster.

 

yes go with the power commander 3 its what yamaha offered for my yfz 450r and it is great comes with custom maps and allows on the fly fuel adjustment for adding and trimming fuel based on temperature and elevation very happy with the buy and yes it will add a lot of power by adding it with a pipe and filter

 

It is also likely that Yamaha designed their filter and exhaust to create proper back pressure and flow to work well with the stock mapping of the fuel injection. GYTR has access to design specs on Yamahas that no aftermarket company does. So if you go with anything other than the GYTR, you should take control of the mapping (reprogrammer).
