newbie questions for a 1989 warrior
i just purchased a 1989 warrior and have never owned a quad before.
my questions are:
what type of oil do i put into this? i want to give it an oil change.
what type of fuel? premium or regular?
airfilters.....what should i be looking at for buying? do i need to rejet ?
is there a downloadable service manual for these?
what years of parts are compatible?
where can i find used body parts? other than ebay.
If you can answer any of these questions, i'd be appreciative.
Thank you.

I don't know of a place in particular that sells used parts besides eBay. Check your local classifieds, you may find someone parting a Warrior out.
Oil: 10w40 Motorcycle Oil...and it HAS to say wet-clutch safe on it. Most auto parts stores have it but wherever you buy it be certain it says it will work with wet clutches. Normal automotive motor oil will ruin your clutch.
Regular Fuel
If you want to upgrade the air filter the only one worth getting for the Warrior is the K&N Pro Design clamp on filter set up.
I don't have the link but I know some of the other guys here do for an online service manual so hopefully they will post it here. As far as parts compatibility goes it just depends on what parts. Warriors are largely unchanged from 89-04 except in the electrical system, but the best thing to do is look at the parts diagrams on Yamaha's website and compare part numbers for different model years if there is something specific you are referring to.
Finally, if you change the air filter and/or pipe you should rejet.

thank you for the quick reply! i'm pretty excited about this thing. its ugly as sin because all the plastic has been broken off at one point or another....lol. the price was right, so i figured. i'd give it a shot, fix it up a bit and maybe ride it for a summer or two.
it gets dropped off this afternoon....

does it take allot of oil? would there be a dipstick on it?
theres a few local shops nearby that would probably have a filter within a day or two, if they dont already have it.
sorry for the newbie questions....just dont want to wreck this thing first ride out. i've got sleds, but thats as close to fun vehicles i've ever owned.

Holds 2.5 quarts without a filter change 2.8 quarts with a filter change. Dipsticks on the right side of the case.
