The Raptor is for the rest. The ones that don't live on the track and don't necessarily want to go fast everywhere but, still can when they want. It's a little heavier, includes reverse and has low RPM grunt for trails and obsticles.
So you recomend the yfz then if i want to race. But, do do u think the carb models are faster than the fuel injected.

Here is a S+S comparison for you to look at.
2009 Yamaha YFZ450R ATVs
Carbs can technicaly be faster overall but the simplicity of EFI is a wonderful thing. If you tend to ride in alot of differant places EFI is a great thing to have without rejetting for alltitude changes.

Ya, I agree with DODGE57HEMI. Performance wise they can be very similar but, Carb requires lots of constant tweaking to perform optimally. Tweak for altitude, weather, day of the week...

EFI will be optimal with no maintenance required. EFI all the way.

I think the YFZR's EFI is extremely handy - especially if you ever change elevations. I have had Raptors, YFZ's and a YFZR. I agree with everything said here....the 700 sounds like the best quad for what you want. Modded, that thing will haul the mail....
