Default Yamaha warrior oil plug PLEASE READ

I was changing the oil today on my 2000 Yamaha warroir and I let all the oil drain out but then when I was putting the drain plug back in,it wouldn't go.i am not a mechanic so I know nothing.What is causing it not to go in?It came out fine but now it won't go in.Please reply

prop it up on the sissy bar with the gas turned off and check the opening fo rboogered up threads or an obstruction

on our 88 warrior you have to remove the tubular guard to get the fill plug back in,it just barly interfears with putting it back in.

I really shouldn't be hard. Get it up where you can look at it and make sure you are getting it lined up good. If you are at a little of an angle, maybe because you hitting a guard or just not holding it real straight, it may not thread in. The only other thing would be the threads are messed up or have dirt or something in them.

They are a PITA you have to push and twist at the same time and it can be a hassle. If there is any debris in the way or the spring is not working or being blocked from compression it won't catch....
