ok so i got the oil filter and gasket kit. I took the cylinder to a shop and it will be $52 to have it bored so that will be geting done next weekend then all i have to do is get a piston. I found one on ebay that is 1.00mm oversized with a 71.00mm bore. I think my cylinder is 70.5 but we will see once i get it back from the shop.

p.s can i chang this thread name to (moto 4 225 rebiuld)

i'm still trying to figure out if i'm repling to the threads the right way. anyway sounds like your project is in good hands and my expeireance with piston and oversizeing, means the machine shop will match the cylinder to the piston. are you going to have the rod resized, or does anyone offer under/oversize bearings? as far as mods, call or visit on the web Duncan racing or CT, those guys would know whats available for a 225. i'm sure DG or FMF still offer a pipe and such. i'm currently ordering elka/lonestar suspension for my sons raptor 250. he wants to get into racing. keep me posted on your project, those moto-4s were great machines.

Isn,t the Moto 4 the same 229.6cc, 71 X 58mm BORE X STROKE and COMPRESSION RATIO 8.7:1

That they used in there 250 Bear trackers and Timberwolf and 250 Briun/Grizzlys now? I had a 87 moto4 and the sticker on the side said "250" not 225.

here is the Clymer maual for a moto4 and it covers 1987-2004 more because the book was printed in 2004.http://images.google.ca/imgres?imgur...a%3DN%26um%3D1

i don't think so but ii could be wrong this is my first atv project so im learning as i go. i think the stock 225 had (70x58mm and copression ratio 10.25:1 and with a displacment 223.6cc)but i was told my engine was rebilt befor and it had a 70.5mm bore so it was at 225cc. With the new bore and piston at 71mm should get 226cc a hole 1 cc more lol.

I've got an odd Yamaha called a Prohauler and it's actually considered a 230cc by Yamaha. Doing a little research on what will and won't work for a top end rebuild I've found alot of the Moto 4 (225), Beartracker, Timberwolf and Big bear (250) parts are interchangable.

Don't have the list on me at the moment, but if you'd like a copy PM me.

sorry to here about your garage, that vavle does look a bit corroded. you might be able to clean the surface rust with sand paper, but i'm worried more about the valve seat and face. since you already have the head off i would have the valves inspected. i have read those (kibble white) valves are good and they come with springs and retainers. ck out there site. anyway looks like your project is coming along. dont you love how other people tell you how to spend your money lol. just kiddin, it sounds like you got a cool project and it would be a bummer to put it together and not run right because of valve train problems.
