Default Blaster worth getting

I am looking at getting a 1990s blaster, a buddy of mine knows a guy who is selling it for 300. He says it will start run for a few minutes then die, he thinks it needs a new piston. Is this worth it I think I might be able to get it for 200.

Any other info? Aftermarket parts? what kinda shape is the frame in? Plastics?

for 300 bucks don't expect much,.... but hey,... a rebuild ain't too much, so If that's all it needs I'd grab it.

The things to look for on the engine are the crankcase housing (left side) at the small sprocket.... They like to crack there sometimes.... and the right side around the kick start lever,... same thing,... especially if the owner was a big guy and had lots of weight to shower down with..... check brakes for operation (rear brakes probably are gonna give problems,... if they work at all, they'll probably lock up shortly after you start to use it, if they don't work, there's a couple of options for upgrading them to hydraulics.... or repairing the mechanical disc brakes.... your call)

Heck,... if you can nit pick enough, get the 200 bucks out and sail away with the booty. I've had 2 blasters,... still have one, and love the power to weight ratioi.... a lot of fun to ride.

I would buy it for that much money you could part it out and make your money back if it turns out there is too much wrong with it.
