Default ind. suspension vs swing arm

Hi looking at a '04 450 kodiak but just realized, (going to look at it tomorrow) pretty sure it has swing arm suspension.... i think i want ind suspension. correct me (please) if i'm wrong, but independant suspension is better, right? forgive me if this is a stooopid question, i have little experience (nooob).
thanks, Gary

IMO, both have their advantages. On a utility I do prefer an IRS (Independant Rear Suspension) suspension but a sport bike I prefer a SRA (Solid Rear Axel). The IRS is going to give you a much better ride and provide a bit better traction at times but it does not handle quite as good as a SRA does. For the kodiak, I would probably go for one with an IRS beause I wouldn't be using it to fly through the trails. Again, this is just my opinion.

I agree with GEOMAN 100% I have road both and it all depends on what type of riding you do. IRS will also give you better ground clearance.
