450 Kodiak starter

2005 450 Kodiak, starter doesn't always engage. Most of the time you can just hear the teeth of the starter clicking around, but not engaging. Is this common? What do you think, needs aligned, or worse?

I have 05 kodiak 450 with 689 hr & 1657 miles on it and have no problem with it at all imo its a great atv
