Default 2000 kodiak 400

i just purchased this bike it ran well for awhile.
i ran it for about a hr after the over heat light was on
so i checked the radiator and it was empty
i put fluid in it and started it up
white smoke came pouring out of it
i shut it off
now it wont start
it wants to but wont
the air filter is saturated with gas
what do you guys think is the problem?

head gasket. the reason being that first of all the radiator was empty, and when you put water in it it started to smoke white. before you bought the atv the gasket was probaly gone, emptying the radiator and causing it to overheat and making your problem worse.
THE FIX;
rip the motor apart and look for signs for a blown headgasket, check the head and cylinder for warpage and might as well check piston to cylinder clearence and ring gap. check oil for water contamination(if it looks milky) and change the filter too. it sucks to buy something with underlying problem that cant be diagnosed on the spot. hope you get it figured out!

Another thing to think about, along with what TRX1000 said, is that 2000 Kodiaks were known for bad water pumps. Maybe that's what started it all.
