Grizzly tires?
#11
I do not see on the Maxxis page where it really gives me an idea of what the tires are best for. As far as looking at them, yes there are a few that scream "MUD" kind of like my brothers tractor tires. As far as deciding what I want them for I see nothing that helps. Probably 80% dry dirt or grass, 10% mud, 10% snow. My buddy put the ITP tires on his honda, what is recommended for them?
rim package, is that just for looks?

larger diameter rims neccessary?
YES!!!!! One of the biggest complaints on just about any Grizz is the tippy feeling you get while riding it. By changing the tires to a good radial like say a Maxxis Big Horn will cure this issue in a big way. Then if you want to get real crazy add wheel spacers like the ones you can fine on E-Bay and you will have one of the best suspended quads made not to mention way better traction over the stock tires! These additions plus adding Ricochet skid would be the first mods I would do to any quad!
To help with the Tippy feeling can I just go to the new tire, or do I need to change the rims and tires to the larger diameter and lower profile that they talk about on the tire pages or is that not necessary. I do not forse me doing any high speed "racing" with my buddies, just pleasure riding and some mud in the farm fields when we are hunting.

i would either suggest zillas or HL outlaw MST's. although neither one is a radial, the MST is a harder compound then the zilla, but both are very trail friendly and will go in any mud (within reason of course) my buddy has about 1000 miles on his MST's on his grizzly. after about 50 miles he bought the MST's and 2 inch spacers all around i believe, then he got a 2 inch lift.
Pics,
the only time we had problems, is when we bottomed out. the zillas do feel alittle funny in high speed cornering on pavement, say around 40mph or so but that is most likely because they are not radial.
good luck

Honestly, I'd say stick with the stock Maxxis tires ya have on it. They will do JUST FINE with what you plan on doing with your quad. Buying a more aggressive tire is just going to cost ya "wasted" money!
I mostly do alot of dirt trail riding, with some mud if it's there (I don't go "looking" for mud pits!) and the stock Maxxis tires are fine.
Running in 4x4 with the stock Maxxis tires is going to get you through more than you'll ever have to worry about (I say this only because it sounds like you do not run in any kind of deep mud at all)
If still wanting to switch, the Big Horns look good!
One trick to make the tires fell less tippy on turns is run the backs at around 4 to 4-1/2 lbs. and the front at about 5-1/2 lbs. Extra pressure in front tires help.
Save the money for something else for the Grizz!
