Default Yzf450r

My son is looking at the yzf450r. I would like to know everyone's likes and dis-likes. I know the handle bars are low and need raised to not hit your knees. I know that pre-07, there isn't a pump to get the oil to the top of the motor at start up. What other thing do you like and would change if done over again

Thanks,

Well, raising the bars is an individual thing. I would replace the steering stem if he wants a taller bar, as the stocker will bend on even a slow rollover. All years have an oil pump, but in '07 they got a higher flow pump and a nozzle to squirt oil on the wrist pin and underside of the piston. It isn't 100% necessary if you get an older one, but can be done right for $200.00 or so. I used to wear out the a arm bushings pretty quick until I went aftermarket. They really are pretty solid machines other than that.
