Just a note in the 300ex's defense, I saw the video, no argument the 250 is a great quad, but it was not stock to stock, the 250 was given the full GYTR kit, full exhaust, air box eliminator kit, rejetting, while the 300ex runs a tiny pipe the size of my finger, should have been all stock to all stock, or allowed a pipe, box mod and jetting to the 300. For less money, the Raptor is a fantastic quad, that handles great, but dont count out the Honda, it has great potential as well !!

True True I did read a magazine once that did do a stock Vs. stock and in a straight line the 300 barley edged out the 250. Everywhere else the 250 dominated! I know how much the 300 can be built but that same potential lives in the 250 as well.

There is only a 33cc difference between the 2, similar engine layout so I would expect them to perform closely. For the money, I would go with the Yamaha. Heck, msrp is still a couple hundred lower on the 2011 Raptor 250R!

i dont think so, the raptor looks down right fragile compared to the 300 and it will never run with the 300 if both modified. and dodge, what magazine did you read that in? of course they're gonna pick the newer machine and out of the box it nmight be the all around better machine, but the 250x and 300ex are a low profile set of tires away from much better handling and can be had cheap used

YouTube - Raptor 250 vs Honda 300 EX Drag Race this video looks like how a typical race would go, but a drag isnt everything

This is NOT the one I read but proof is in the pudding as they would say.2008 Yamaha Raptor 250 ATV Project Quad build Th Raptor 250 has the same basic architecture as the YFZ450 and is light years away from the 300 in technology and tho smaller in size does its job nicely! The 250 is more of a race quad wheras the the 300EX is more of a trail quad! The 125 will be another steep in that same 250 direction!

the raptor 250s frame rails an axle are too skinny for a guy my size, though ok for teens. the 250 is "racier" but certainly not a race quad. if it had 450 like suspension with yz250f time bomb in it then yeah. you're obviously brand loyal to yamaha so this is a usaless argument

Come on man! I thought you might actually have a few good points. You say brand loyal I say it knowing my quads. I never said anything about the 250 fitting a full size adult. (Title of thread) If I was looking at a 300EX for an adult you might as well step into a 400EX as it blows the 300EX out of the water! But in all fairness the Suzuki Z400 wins that battle to! Every quad has its share of faults but you need to give props to the ones that deserve it! I do my research and ride what I feel is the best quad out there for my needs, its just very unfortunate that Honda has not had much to talk/ride about since the 250R! As of right now Yamaha builds the most complete line of race (Or for that matter utility) quads made!

I will even be as nice to say I will take your 300 any day over the Raptor 350!!!! Talk about a quad that needs help STAT! Happy trails!
