depends what you wanna do, ive owned A LOT of atvs and bikes through the years and can have just as much fun on a 250x/300ex as i do a 400ex or z400 (ive owned a couple of them too). im partial to the air cooled hondas as trail machines because they are relativley inexpensive to maintain and would take a 400ex over a z for that reason. (1 less cam, no radiator etc) i also think a 400ex is a bit more stable, though again out of the box the z has a higher performancce envelope, but we arent racers. i wish 2 strokes would make a comback already, these newer 4 strokes are too much when they break. i do agree about yamaha having the miost complete lineup, but they dont own every category

I would love to try a new (09 and newer Z) as they seem to be the bomb now with EFI and updated suspension I think that would be a hoot very similar to my 700R! I still wish I never got rid of my old Honda 250R sure miss that handling (For the year it was) and the hit of a two stroke. Tho then again, todays turn key 4 strokes make for a good ownerhip experience! I love Yamaha and the company impresses me more and more with there great customer service and building solid reliable fun bikes to ride! Dont take that the wrong way as I love the sport more than the bike and will ride with anybody, anywhere at any time no matter what bike they ride! I am a prod owner of more than one product from one company that puts as much effort into saving the sport as as they do building great rides!
