Cam Help???? What stage should I get???
I have a 2006 Raptor 700 with a Dr.D full pipe and fuel programmer. Im putting in a JE piston with a new cam. Which hot cam stage should I go with??? stage 1 or 2? I do all trail riding in Michigan. I want to get the most gain for my money and dont want any problems with having to change the valves and springs to HD.
Thanks

honestly if your gonna throw in some cams get some good aftermarket valves and springs to go with the cam...it will last alot longer and work with the cam to provide more power, big cams with stock valvetrain usually is just a bad situation, i dont know a whole lot about the rappy 700s in particular but hotcams are pretty mild cams, Webb, Megacycle, Powroll were always my favorite cams.

You'll be ok with any of the hotcams and stock springs. If you go to megacycle, webb cams, or any of the other larger cams it will require aftermarket springs and the head and the rockers will need to be clearanced for those cams.
As for the hotcams, don't bother with the stage 1, it is a waste of money. Either go stage 2 or 3. Stage 3 you will loose a little of your bottom end but it your going up in compression you won't notice it. If you are going stock or close to stock compression I would go with the stage 2, if your bumping up the stock compression go stage 3.
If you haven't bought the piston yet I would also highly recommend going to the CP piston instead of the JE. The JE isn't a bad one by any means but does not have quite the quality of the CP pistons.
