Default 450 Oil Mod ???

Can anyone explain what people are talking about with the oil mod thingy? I looked at a couple of 450's and I was told to make sure the oil mod was done. What is it. and why Thanks

(if you are talking about a yfz), then on the pre "07" yfz450's they had a problem with the wrist pins seizing up due to lack of luberication, so in 07 yamaha fixed this problem with an oil squirted that lubericates the wrist pin/piston/cylinder wall. they also added a high volume oil pump.

On the pre "07" yfz450's they had a problem with the wrist pins seizing due to lack of lubrication, so in 2007 yamaha fixed this problem with an oil squirter that lubricates the wrist pin/piston and cylinder wall. they also added a high volume oil pump.

so if you were to buy a pre 2007 yfz450 then you would want the "oil mod" done, if its a 2007,08,09 or 2010 ten you dont have to worry about it. some poeple have rode with out the mod and have had no poblems what so ever, and others have had top ends grenade.
now the oil mod is a modification that you have done to your right side case.(not the actual case half but the cover on that case half) if you look at different companies you should find a few that do this mod. some will even come with a 07 high volume pump.

Thanks one more thing. Can you tell if the oil mod has been done just by looking at it or is it all internal. This was very helpful Thanks again I really appreciate it. So I am better off looking for one with it done vs not done. Or having it done asap if it hasn't.

All internal. While it IS a great thing to have, it wouldn't preclude me from buying an otherwise clean unit.
