Default How can i lift my 86 yamaha yfm80 moto4?

I have an 86 Yamaha YFM80 MOTO 4 that I want to get a little more ground clearence on. I see that the rear wheels and tires are a larger size than the front. I have an identical complete Yamaha YFM80 MOTO 4 that I am using as a parts ATV for the one I am rebuilding; except it is an 87. Is there any reason why I cannot use the larger rear wheels and tires from the 87, and put them on the front of the 86??
Is there any other way to raise my YFM80 so I can get more ground clearence? Speed is not an issue; I will be using the ATV only for hunting and fishing; traveling slowly to and from the hunting and fishing areas; and as I am disabled, using my ATV to hunt from; going as slowly as possible. Are there even larger wheels and tires I can put on my ATV? I would like to gain as much ground clearence as possible.
Suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Ken

P.S. My 87 I am using for parts is complete and in good condition; except it wont run. I will be selling some of the parts; and keeping some for myself. If you need any parts let me know; I may be willing to sell some depending on the part.

If the hole pattern and wheel offset clear the rest of the suspension,.... it should work fine. I thought all the 4 wheelers from back then ahd the same size front and rear tire circumference..... I guess I could be wrong on that note.

I have a 96 Badger (same as the Moto4 80) and the tires are the same all the way around. I could use a rear wheel that's the same as the rest, as somehow I have one that's slightly wider on the right rear.... Of course I bought it used, so Any number of previous owners could have bent one and just swapped it with whatever he had available.... I've had it for 3 years and no issues other than I can see the difference in the way it sits and the way the tire looks on the rim.

I would be interested in buying both rear wheels if they are the 3 hole pattern wheels,.... if you are willing to part with them.... Give me a price and I'll see about the value on my end.... Since shipping will likely kill us both if the price is too high..... cheap is the goal.

Default For Terrellster

Hi Terrellster;

Sorry to be so long getting back to you. Actually I was trying to make up my mind if I wanted to part out my Yamaha YFM80 MOTO 4. I have decided to part out most of it; keeping a few parts for myself.
After checking prices online I figured that $30 for one wheel; or $25 each for two wheels, plus freight sounded reasonable to me. Let me know if your interested.

Thank you for your answer to my question; I didn't forget; I appreciate your taking the time to answer me.

Regards
Ken
