yamaha warrior straight pipes
hi everyone i had a skyway cobra exhaust on my 88 warrior, a few people had told me that that certain exhaust restricts it, so i pulled the screw out of the bottom part of the exhaust and made it just a straight pipe. would anyone recemend just straight a pipe? that would give you more air flow right? more air means more power right? i really like the loud sound though.

Exhaust needs to be sized correctly to scavenage the exhaust. If done correctly, you can pull a negitive pressure on the pipe to draw out the exhaust.
An open pipe does not do this. That is why headers work on engines. The pressure wave of one cylinder helps draw out the exhaust of the others.
That is why header type exhaust is way better than zoomies on naturally asperated engines.
In short, you will loose a bunch of low end power if you do this. You may make a bit of power on the very top end but I doubt it. It will more than likely put the torque band out of reach of the RPM of your engine and you will loose power all the way through the power band.
