Default Warrior Won't Start

Just bought an '89 Warrior last night with an engine out of a '96. Quad has complete motor rebuild with all new parts. When I try to start the quad I get nothing, not even a click. I have a brand new battery and new solenoid that I purchased today. Had it cranking a bit with the old solenoid by crossing the terminals. I've been looking over it and can't find anything wrong. Wires look good in the start button as well as the kill switch. I get lights but thats it. Any ideas?

That bike will either have to be in neutral or have the clutch pulled in before it will crank. One or the other could be causing your problem.

Fuse has been replaced and quad is always in neutral and always pull the clutch in to start it. Quad does not has an ignition switch but I do have the red and brown wire tied together which gives me lights. Possible CDI box problem?

Quad now turns over but turns over very slowly. Battery cables also get hot. Any ideas?

Put a new starter in now it cranks fine. Now getting an inconsistent spark. It will fire every 5 cranks or so. Person who owned it before did jump it from a car to crank it. I'm thinking maybe a bad ignition coil. Not too sure on this one.

Who rebuilt the engine? Possibly timing?

Timing is dead on. Not getting any resistance from the connector on the coil to the spark plug. Going to pick up a coil and test it out.

Still nothing. Hoping it's not the stator. I pulled it out and it looks in pretty good condition.
