I didnt see any H1 or H2 designation anywhere, but it was definitely a v-twin, it said twin on the front decal. I thought it was much newer than 06, because it was in absolutely brand new condition with only 100 miles on it when I started riding it. My bad.

I was always of the opinion a twin makes more low end grunt (torque) than a single, and a single, not having the low end torque, has to get up to speed before it has the momentum to keep up with a twin. This AC had no hesitation and really snappy throttle down low, taking off from a standing start if it wasn't pulling the front tires an inch, then it was close, it sure felt like it.

Equally a Single makes more Low end grunt low rpm grunt, thats why they uses thumper in enduro motorcycles XT660,Xr650s and rock hopping Trials bikes . One big paint can makes more low torque than to soup cans off equal CC.
A twin should have the addvantage flying down high speed roads.

The 500 Twin Can AM is the fastest 500 Utility made but on technical trail riding and bull work its twin gives it a lower grade. 4x4 ATVs Comparison Test Report - What's the Best 500 Utility ATV?

If you look at AC line up the 650 twin had a short run at life 2004-2006 2006 Arctic Cat 650 V2 4x4 Automatic ATVs
Not sure of the reasoning.

Well if it said twin with the V2 on the front of the instrument cluster then im sure it was. huh,i was pretty sure the cat would have won. Then again, only 100 miles on it. maybe try again after 1,000 miles on it. A broke in motor will run a little better. Then again i could just be wrong, wouldnt be the 1st time.

Tlc- your right about the can am 500 being fast but not real low end powerful.(besides being in low) ive also got a 500 outlander and when i had my 500 arctic cat it would go up hills with the throttle at one spot, but with the outlander you had to give it more gas to make it up a hill. im talking at slow speeds. 5-10mph

We have a 500 AC in or group, its a trees crushing tank, where my Big Bear would try to climb the tree and fip back on its self.

PS. A 650 V2 with only a 100 miles is a awsome deal.

The Can-Am is the fastest 500's but both the 550 Popo and Yamaha utes are quicker!

I like to see a 550 only shootout. I mean there are 3 of them made now,why throw a 500 in with them?

It was more of a 500 class power steering shootout I think.

You will never see a shootout in any magazine with an even playing field. Each mag has it's own agenda and advertising revenue from specific manufacturers at risk if they don't cater to them. I may like my 450 but do you honestly believe a grizz 550 outperformed the Gade 500? I have ridden both and the gade 500 will destroy the grizz 550. No matter what you read remember it's all a business and whoever pays the most gets the better write up.

I can see a Gade winning but not a Outlander heck the 550 runs almost with a 700 Grizz and the 550 has plenty of torque for its size.

oooops my bad...lol, I forgot that was for the outty. Have you ridden with any 550s? I know from riding with Dave and his that it has decent enough power but he cant keep up with the 660s when they go wot let alone a 700. Granted all the 660s we ride with are a little modded but I have never had an issue keeping up with him and the 550 on my 450 either.
