Granted all the 660s we ride with are a little modded but I have never had an issue keeping up with him and the 550 on my 450 either.
When I bought my 700 I test rode a 550 and was pleasantly surprised at its power output. Now granted both machines were dyno clutched for maximum power output at 9200 feet but I honestly could get about the same
(top end) speed out of both 68-64 respectively. The 700 was punchier but overall feeling/speed were the same. I chose the 700 only because I ride at higher altitudes, a lot and wanted every CC I could get.
