450 Grizzly Wheels
#1
I have a 2008 450 Grizzly with independent rear suspension and also have a 2004 350 Wolverine. The Grizzly seems to want to rollover a lot easier than the Wolverine on certain off camber inclines. I am thinking it is because of the independent rear suspension versus the straight axle. I am thinking about getting new rims and tires for the Grizzly which would probably help if I get some rims with a offset to widden the stance.
Any thoughts or ideas would be great.

Yup a wider stance would help... you MIGHT and this is a personal preference... want to disconnect and remove the rear sway bar.. This will allow your IRS to work better in off camber... BUT this will definitely add roll when you are doing high speed (Over 25mph) cornering..
With that said.. I removed my sway bar at 400 miles and it is still sitting in the attic..
I lean into it when corning and haven't had a problem yet

When I had my 05 Kodiak, I installed aftermarket wheels and got pretty muddy. If you go that route, look into the Yamaha overfenders. They look good and help with any of that mud.

[QUOTE=CraZySteve;2969795]Good point! Just by installing aftermarket tires that were wider than stock I get muddy, not overly so but more than with stock tires.... But where I ride those overfenders wouldn't survive!

That's what I thought when I got them but I was surprised. They gave enough to get arounf the trees decently. Look into them, you'll be surprised!

definitely invest in some aftermarket wheels or spacers. unbelievable what a difference they make for stability. I have the overfenders and they get scratched up real good from the trees but they flex well enough to not tear up the plastics.

If I go the tire and wheel route then what size and offset should I get? I am looking at the ITP SS108's. My options are:
Size Offset
Front 12x7 5+2
Front 14x6 4+2
Rear 12x7 5+2
Rear 14x8 5+3
Size Offset
Front 12x7 5+2

Rear 12x7 5+2
Rear 14x8 5+3

I agree,The rear tires are 10" wide stock, with your new off set rims(maybe with stock rims as well) the ATV should handle 12" wide rear tires without rubbing, now she will be hard to roll over, but your going to get muddy. LOL

Use this chart

I'd go with the 5+2. So strange though. They had those wheels in a 6+1 when I had my Kodiak. The 5+2 stuck out aways but the 6+1 wasn't too bad. They must have stopped making them because all they were used for was the Kodiaks. Not profitable enough I guess.
