Replaced the timing chain, guide rails, top sprocket, and come to find out the tensioner does not touch the back guide rail.
Is it possible the top timing gear is not the right one? Has anybody ran into this problem. The quad runs, but the chain is obviously a little loose.

To add to the post, the tensioner does not touch the guide rail, when it is installed in its fully extended condition.
1. Is it possible to have the wrong 32 tooth top sprocket?
2. Is the rail supposed to have an extended surface for the tensioner to hit?
3. I got a new timing chain that should be for the '87 as it is the same at least through '94.
4. Could the head have been shaved down? (I did get the bike used and it was not running.)
Any other solutions would be beneficial.
