#1
I have a 2k blaster and I have only ridden it for about 6 months now. I had to buy a new chain(520 o-ring) because mine was too stretched to adjust anymore. What should I be oiling this chain with? How do you do it correctly? I haven't installed the new chain yet because I don;t want to ruin in be oiling it incorrectly...please help!!!

timewass,
On an O-ring chain you are basically lubing the side plates to prevent rust. The orings seal in the pre-lubed rollers and seal out any other lube. The main concern in choosing a lube for O-ring chains is to make sure the can says it is made for orings. Other lubes contain chemicals harmful to the rubber O-rings. I like Chain Wax by Maxima. It leaves a dry waxy coating which doesn't attract dirt or dust.
You didn't mention what brand of chain you had to replace or what brand you now have, but it does seem unusual for any good chain to stretch so soon. Also you might want to take a good look at your sprockets to make sure they are not the cause. Hooked teeth on them can wear out chains prematurely.

I use regular oil to lube my chain and it works but it leaves a black greasy coating everywhere it splashes underneath my blaster and thats annoying because it doesnt come off with just water you have to wipe it off with a rag. What I want to know is, does that stuff u can buy in a can at the dealer not do that? I lube my chain after every ride because it looks like it needs it. I used to have an old LT80 for 4 years and never lubed the chain once. Then I realized i was supposed to be doing this when some of the links rusted and i needed a new chain!!

I was told before to use WD-40, but I also heard that it will harm the o-rings. This may sound stupid, but when I oil the chain I understand that I am only oiling the side plates and the contact points between the rollers and sprockets. When I oil the chain should I oil it then wipe off all the excess oil? If I don't I get an oil mess everywhere. And how much oil should I use?
