Here is my advice. What kind of riding are you going to do? Recreational/Racing? Where wood/dunes? How experenced are you? Is sound a problem? Take all in concideration and decide what is for you. For me I ride woods and plan on riding moto some. I am a rec. rider and do not race and do not plan on it. I am a decent rider not a pro. I love the electric start and reverse is nice. I fell that the raptor is the quad for me. The only mods I am going to do is a wider axle, skids, bumper and a new pipe. With this I fell that there is no need for a better quad for my use. I am having a blast with mine stock!! But if you are rich hook the quad of your choice up and mine to. :-)

What they said.. To narrow, too tall, big gap in 2nd etc.

But I also think having 2 carbs is bogus, what about fuel injection! Or one carb, not two, with different settings...

Plus I still scratch my head at the idoit airbox engineer at Yamaha... Must be blackmailing someone to keep coming up with those lame air filter setups.

An the linkage based shifter... which is signature Yamaha... Whats up with that, just puts play in the shifting system.

Still lovin' it... but figured they could of improved on these area in all these years. Of course if I was an aftermarket manufacture I love em for it.

Everything I did not like has, or I thought I had replaced. Now the tranny consumed itself. And it looks like I wont see it again until late may. So I guess the thing I dont like about it is that,YOU GUYS GOT ALL THE TRANNY PARTS BEFORE ME.

The water/mud spray problem is it a problem? Anyways my buddy actually put mudflaps on his banshee. Great idea not so great looks. It works awesome though.

Yamaha should of released the full blown version of the Raptor, instead we've gotten a mild mannered atv. It doesn't blow away the competition!!! The DS650 is right there with it. Also, it doesn't have the nice mud guards like the DS650.

2nd & reverse geared too high.
Glad someone mentioned the cheap plastic skid plates. I replaced mine after 4 weeks and found a piece brocken off. What's next, plastic bullet proof vests?
Stock skid plates make oil change impossible without removal of skip plate (or some cutting).
Ext Oil Resivoir is difficult to drain and difficult to fill (obstructed access).
Head lights get steamed up when exposed to water.

Plexiglass is bullet-RESISTANT and it's sort of plastic.
