not getting a new one, gotta buy the HEAD and rocker cover together. I cannot see the rocker cover leaking really since there is not alot of oil in there and the crack will be on the rear (toward the carbs) which is tiltled in the air and oil should drain away from. After sending my motor to trinity I cannot afford a new head and rocker cover! haha going to try getting it welded tomorrow...
Is it aluminum?
will post results of trinity's service and work

Engine cases are made of a very low grade aluminum (pot metal). It can be welded but only by someone who is experienced at welding that type of metal. It can easily be burned up by an unskilled welder leaving you far worse off than you are. JB weld is pretty good for bonding, however it makes good sense to rough up the surface aroud the cracks. JB weld adheres better to a rough surface. Also if it is spread out around the crack it will be stonger and will be holding the cracked piece in place rather than bonding it. Unless you can find a welder that is experienced at welding pot metal you are better off using JB weld. Rough up the metal surfaces with coarse sandpaper or even a file and clean it off with contact cleaner first. Good luck.

when i got a hole knocked in my case by my counter balancer we used jb weld. what we did was first rough up the dges. the we made a piece of alumium with holes in it and with screws or something i can't remember our exact proceddure. then we covered it in jb weld.then sanded it down on the outside and it is good as new.
