Raptor Maintenance
#1
I was reading that you need to have 20 hour maintenance done and it costs about 200 bucks. How often does this come up? If this is a one time thing...what other maintenance needs to be done, and what does it cost? Easy to do yourself?

200 bucks is what was said in the atv newsgroup. It is steep, but there was a reply to the post that said it sounded about right. They supposedly check and adjust valves, among other things, and put the bike on a scope to make sure its running smoothly after the break in.

Maybe if you plan on keeping the bike for 10-20 years. You should break it in properly, definately read the manual on that. It's something like 0-5 hrs only up 1/4 throttle no quick revs don't run long times 6-10 up 1/2 half " "" "" "" 11-20 up to 3/4 nearing 20 just touch full throttle but don't quote me on that. You change your oil and filter after about 7-10 hours then again at 20 hours along with your first valve adjustment. I think I paid like 30 dollars for oil-change,valve adjustment and filter. If you pay anything more than 75(I guess?) your getting jipped. Just read the manual about service intervals and maybe get a speed/hours used meter on it.

The only real critical thing is valve ajustment, and believe me they will be out of wack at 20 hrs.
Apparently they charge the same there as in phx.
Factory service manuals are now available, and with feeler gauges, and some metric hand tools its not hard to do.
