Question big bear 350 front axle shaft

Hello guys....

I am in the process of acquiring a big bear 350 from a friend at work
He said it needs a front driveshaft, but he says it just needs a piece of "square stock". Now I k.ow the difference between the driveshafts I see on eBay and a piece of square stock. I don't know the year and neither does he (he said late 80's)

He says it has the yoke still on the differential. I am so confused on what I need to make it like new. Any suggestions are appreciated!

Looks like Yamaha,s replacement drive shaft dropped the U-joint and uses a CV joint now.Dirt Cheap Yamaha, Honda, Arctic Cat & Polaris OEM Parts & Accessories – Cycle Parts Warehouse

Not sure what is square stock in a drive axle. This is for a 1989 350 BigBear.

I know this is a old thread...
I started it, was just wondering if a quad like this would be worth five hundred bucks? It looks like a driveshaft, and clips would be around 50 to 100 bucks. Thinking of getting a plow as well.

i dont know what year that big bear is but mine is a 1991, i paid 1000 for mine and i love it, i had to adjust the valves on it and replace a wheel hub but that was it, i have gone on a few rides with it and its great, not the fastest thing but it is a tank, climbs over anything and drive through almost anything, i have allot of snow were i am so some of the real deep snow its gets stuck, i would defiantly pick it up for 500 and repair whatever it needed, get a manual for it so you know what to do and save money by doing the work yourself, adjusting the valves is really easy to do and so is the other maintenance on it, and im sure it will push a plow with no problems, i plan on getting one for mine as well
