I have a 94 Kodiak i bought from a friend. It cranks well but won't start and has no spark. I did the test outlined in the service manual and it seems that the stator or pickup coil is at fault,don't know which. My friend said he used to be able to start it with the pull rope,but not the electric start. Recoil mechanism eventually broke,so now it sits. I decided to take the stator out to see what's up. Problem is,I can't remove the bolt that holds the recoil starter pulley to the crank. I'm wondering if it may be a LH thread? Anyone have any experience with these?

Second, I have found replacement stators quite cheap on ebay,or a Ricky Stator for 3-4 times the price. I don't doubt it's a better product,but if the cheaper ones work as well as the stock unit, I'm happy with that. Anyone tried them?
