Ill sit their and rev it up while its sitting the rpms will go really high like nothing is wrong.. It takes off and im practically only riding on the powerband. It goes woooom wooom brraaaaap (lol). And ill shift itl bog alittle and then powerband will kick in. it runs fine if im going down a hill. But going up a 4th gear hill (not a hill) like a dirt road. I got to hit it 3rd or sometimes in 2nd. 1st and 2nd gear is the only way i can really climb. Cause the powerband.. Any ideas. I been told it could be the reeds.

 

Ive had similar problems with power output under load. check the resistance on the coil 1 ohms on the primary circuit and 100K ohms on the secondary (i think). bad coils do alsorts of mischief, cheers rob

 

Have you had this quad long? What do you know about it because your jets could be off as well and does it run rich. What yr is it also what do you run your mix at on my blaster i mix at 32 to 1 witch is 4 onces to every gallon.

 

its a 1998. I just got it. It acted fine when i got it... When i start it up Revs up nice and high. But it justs bogs when i get into higher gears.. Like it takes along time to go through a gear. It bogs into the powerbands hits in then i practically just ride the powerband. The gas is currently on reserve. I just bout it dont even have 1 hour or more riding time on it.. I mix 32-1

also its a 1998. Good condition just rebuilt.

 

I also got more Info so i can get this resolved... I started it up..... First kick.. It idled for about 5 mins didnt even have to touch the gas.. Im guessing that a good thing. The throttle response is however bad.... If its 2/4 throttle it will respond.. If i go from 2/4 to 4/4 its like ring ring braaaap braap. If im 2/4 or lower .. The engine goes womp womp womp brra bra bra brraaaap. Its hard to explain but it has a late response. So if i sit their and hit the throttle its not gona go riiiinng riinnng it goes wommp. How ever if its 2/4 throttle or higher it has a really good response. Any ideas.

Its running on reserve. Could this be the problem.... Cause my friend said it could be bad gas if it has a bad throttle response.

 

I would say your jetting is of pull the plug and see what it looks like an tan color its good but if its rich it will ne black and wet.

 

What you mean plug spark plug or what? Not good with four wheelers

 

Pull your spark plug and what does it look like

 

Check your carb it might need to be cleaned

 

Also make sure it's not sucking air from somewhere besides through the airbox. Most likely areas would be the base gasket or the intake gasket. That would make it rev high, lean the engine out, and could eventually cause engine damage. You could check that by cranking up the engine, let it idle and spray some carb cleaner or starter fluid around the trouble areas, and if it revs up thats where your leak is.
