Raptor Steering Stem
#1
I finally got around to pulling the steering stem from my raptor after a big wipeout a while back. And as no surprise, I found that it is bent. I have been riding it without any problems for a little while, but still want to replace it.
I looked around at different manufacturers, and the prices are all over the map. I've seen prices any from $240 to $350 (arens - lonestar) for different stems with the antivibe mounts, they look the same to me. Does anyone have any wisdom to pass on about the different manufacturers? Is the Antivibe worth the money?
One more thing, are the aftermarket stems any better at keeping the nut tight?

Az, The best way too keep the nut tight is to replace it with yamaha part#90171-14056 and a cotter key. It is a castle nut, like used on other yamaha quads. It is the only sure way to keep it tight and what yamaha should have used in the first place. After changing mine I have not had a problem with it. As far as theafter market steering stem they are pretty much the same thing. If you have any good fabrication or welding shops in your area you might have them cut out the old tubing and weld in a need piece of either mild or 4130 cro. moly tubing. I have done this myself at work, and it doesn't take very long to do it. Just thought I give you some options. Pat
