Kodiak 450 stalling after Sheave change
#1
Hi Guys.
My Kodiak 450 has started stalling,.
It was running fine, but then I had a problem with the primary fixed sheave. The teeth in the middle smoothed and that caused a wobble which caused the weights to shift. One turned round and started screaming !
Onyhoo.... I renewed Bearings, Primary Sheave, weights etc., Put it all back together and now I cannot get the thing to move.
It starts fine and idles fine. But as soon as you go to put it into any gear., it jolts forward and stalls !
What have I missed ?. First time working on CVT clutches by the way.
Cheers,
Gladys x

Are you sure you got all the parts back into the correct places? You can run the quad with the belt cover off,you should be able to see it operating. If anything is jammed up, it could be turning the transmission before you even put it in gear, then when you move the linkage and connedt the engine to the drivetrain, it grabs and stalls out. Run it without the cover on in Neutral, you should be able to rev it up and watch the front sheave close and the belt ride up, then it should return to the bottom of the sheave when it opens up at idle.

Yup,. done that today. Casing off and running the engine.
Rev I up and the belt runs up the sheave as it's supposed to,. and back down when revs reduced.
All running free.
Then as soon as you try to engage a gear... CLONK/STALL and it jerks forward.
Someone told me today that I might be missing shims if someone has had problems with clutch slip in the past., ? Any ideas ?
