Default 2001 Beartracker Wont Fire After Engine Swap

I am working on a 2001 Beartracker 250 which the owner swapped the motor with one from a Timberwolf...Has not fired since so I replaced the stator since CDI and coil were working previously...Just will not fire at all when you use the pull rope starter....I welcome any ideas...THANKS STEVE

what's the trigger output? have you measured any coil output? is the spark plug good? is the wiring harness quick connects correct? i mean, does the wiring match or did the wiring harness get changed out also. example: red to red, red to purple stripe....so on and so forth. a mismatch is what we're trying to avoid.

you could make sure there ain't no surface rust on the magnet pick up at the stator.

Well the reason I replaced the stator is cause they cut the wires...I went back with the new stator and pick up coil that plugs into the connectors on the atv... I work on a lot of atvs but will be honest I suck with a mutimeter... I have no clue how to read one properly...It has to be simple though I would think as the atv was running before they put the motor on just smoking REALLY bad

yeah, i fumble around myself on my multimeter/ohm meter. just about everytime i use mine, i gotta read the dang instructions to figure out which level i use. except for continuity, i got that one down. i would think that you're correct on that wiring being the issue. i just don't have a manual for your quad/engine.

Ok I sure appreciate your time to reply...I am new to the forum and trying to make a temporary living working on atvs... I have 4 now that I just cant seem to get right...@ are Chinese and only problem is running rich...The beartracker is just puzzling me cause I know for a fact it was running so I would think to rule out CDI and coil...Might be wrong...

what's the "downstream" wiring go to on the wiring harness/loom itself? can you trace them out? i'm gonna look for a beartracker wiring diagram.

let's wait on that drastic of a move. let me look around and try to find some kind of diagram that'll tell us what is what and what the differences are. what were the year models again?
