Default Does modding affect a quad?

so i was gonna make some mods to my 2003 yamaha wolverine 350 4X4 and i was wondering if modding them can really damage them because i paid a good amount for the quad and don't want it messed up in any way. the mods i was gonna do were DG exhaust, hot cams (stage 1 or 2 not sure yet), air intake k&n air filter, pulsestar h3art spark plugs, rejet the carbs. can you think of any other mods to do with it? i wanna get it to where it will pop a wheelie but its hard to do with full time four wheel drive quads.

If its done right not so much on those mods. Now boring or changing compression ratio makes me more nervous.
Do not go cheap on the oil and you will be fine, make sure you new plug is in the correct heat range.

You may want to move this post out of "Vintage Machines" for more responses.

question...

did you buy a wolvy 350 4x4 with popping wheelies in mind?
these are great atv's- but a "wheelie popping" sporty (or atv) it will never be. sounds like you're more into peppy sport quads and not so much 4x4 atv'ing?

after all is said and done money wise, and labor wise- you may just be better off selling the wolvy and buying a decent used can-am renegade 500- which has 2x4 / 4x4, IRS and a powerful wheelie popping rotax engine.

just throwing that out there...

I was thinking the same thing when I read the original post...sell the wolverine and buy something that is more capable of popping wheelies. I had a 1995 wolvy and it was a fun machine but I don't think it was intended to pop wheelies...save yourself the work and probably money and look elsewhere!!

Well, If you really like the Wolvy, you could probably find a 300EX for not much more than those mods will cost and have 2 quads...

This 4x4 Grizzly can wheelie no problem, Even with a 80lb bag of cement on the front rack.

Reminds me of my old trail boss. Not a monster of any type, but did a few mods to it and it was a pretty big change from stock.

Did it damage it any? Well, when my brother in law hit the tree, he was airborne. I don't think it could have done that before.

He's got twice the CC! no wonder it can wheelie! A 350 utility quad will not do the same things as a sport quad no matter what you do to it. They are heavy, esp with 4x4. They are purpose built. Will they run hard? Faster than many cars? Of course, but don't expect to do tricks with it.

Also you'll hurt yourself!

I've tried to do little stunts on my 350 Moto 4 and yeah they don't really work.

Get a second quad for those (light weight!!)
