Launching Boat With Atv?
#1
So i have a 16ft alunium boat (unsure on weight) and was wondering if it could be launched by an atv? If not could you use an atv and a winch? It would be on a concrete ramp and the trailer toung weight is around 100 lbs. By the way if i was going to try and do this, i would attach a tow strap or rope to a tree just long enough so the atv could not go in the water.

With a ATV you can skip the boat ramp and do it on a beach.
We back up our 14ft boat with a 90 outboard into the water all the time.
By the time the ATV is in seat height of water the boat has floated of the trailer long before.
ATVs can easily pull big boats. This is a 500 Scrambler without even a low range.
ATV's in general have a tow rating of 1,100lbs to 1,200lbs which can be pushed a lot further for short periods.

Only thing I can think of with the size boat you'd be launching is to watch out for a super steep boat ramp. Quads can be tippy front to back if the slope is steep enough. Put a couple hundred lbs. of pressure on the hitch and it can make it worse. Other than that, make sure it has a good parking brake.

Okay thanks! I have an 16ft aluminum outboard 70, estimate weight is 500-700 lbs and like i said toung weight is less than 100lbs. My yamaha wolverine 450 4x4 pulls it in the yard easily so i will just tie up to my other wolvey incase anything goes wrong.
