Removing the baffles?

id say when u cut out your baffles you were running lean without knowing it, 4 stroke motors need very little back pressure , if you took out your baffles, removed your airbox lid and went up a jet or 2 on your main you'd probably actually notice a power increase, the reason back pressure is needed is on every exhaust stroke the last push of exhaust will actually help pull the next chamber full of exhaust out, this is why you get you power band in 2 strokes, its the right rpm where the exhaust helps pull all the exhaust out to make room for the maximum amount of fuel/oxygen to enter the chamber on the next stroke. on 4 stroke motors especially singles, back pressure does very little because there is an exhaust stroke (exhaust valve open, piston going up) expelling pretty much all of the exhaust, then an intake stroke(intake valve open, piston going down) sucking in fresh air/fuel only from intake......hope i explained this well enough without getting to far into detail.
