Default 1992 big bear clutch?

I bought a 1992 big bear 350 4x4 for the main purpose of putting a plow on it to push snow in our driveway, so I'm not planning riding it a whole lot...like on trails and racing around. More of work horse around the house and yard. I'm not real familiar with atv's so any help and advice is greatly appreciated.

My problem is when riding, it feels like the clutch only lets out a little bit until I get up a little more speed, then I'll feel it let out all the way. I have to down shift to get more power. It's a semi-auto(foot shifter, no clutch lever on handlebars). I don't know how the clutch works on this but I understand there's an adjustment screw. So, according to the post I read, I loosened the nut, backed up the screw, then turned it in until I felt it come in contact with something, then backed it up a 1/4 turn, then tightened the nut. This seemed to help a little bit but the problem is still obvious.

Is there anything else I could try? Or is the clutch just going bad...if so, is it difficult to change? Thanks in advance

Sounds more like your centrifugal clutch, the higher you rev the tighter it grips. Both clutches are in the same place anyway and, once the cover is off, you can instantly see if the centrifugal has had it because the shoes will be worn down to the steel backing. These shoes are expensive. Get a manual if you can, and check the conventional clutch plates for thickness too, as new plates are not expensive.

Thanks. Hopefully I'll get to take a look at it this weekend.
